of course i can open my box, but i don't want to have it open all the time. I want to put the new dvd in and close it again. Replace the original one...

just get a Y-splitter for the molex power to get power from the HD plug, and use a bios that skips the dvd check, like x2 4981, also, forget abou tplaying originals

I am just wondering why you can't play originals if you insert a new dvd player?
If the xbox detects it why is that? and should'nt it be possible to use a bios flash that avoids it?  blink.gif

Edit: Anyone got some info about this? web pages?

thanks for that gabezilla, but I was thinking about a tutorial/info on why a PC DVD player won't read original games.

I just can't understand that when you replace the original DVD with another DVD, use a mod-chip it should work. You can even flash the DVD rom as well, can't you?

confused.. sad.gif

the xbox stock dvd drives has firmware that knows how to read xbox games, a PC drive has no idea how to read the xbox games

2 PC drive (samsung 616T and 616F) can be flashwed with the samsung 605 firmware to read originals

an other PC drive cant operate with that firmware, it would be liek flashing an xbox bios to a ps2, it would have no clue what to do with the hardware

a PC drive will still read backups from dvd-r, cd-r and so forth, as well as auio cds and dvd movies

There are only two drives that can be flashed to be equivalent to a SD-605, those are the SD-616F and SD-616T.

606 will not work.
