Tsop/lpc Troubles
« on: January 12, 2006, 09:28:00 PM »

After having read about on the board, I couldn't figure out if it would be possible for me to fix this problem on my own.  I have an Xecuter 3CE installed properly.  My Xapt3r is installed properly, but once I install the chip, I get a triple boot with flashing green and red.  I have read that this implies a TSOP problem.

The back story on my box is short and painful:  I was softmodding at a friend's house, and had not finished.  While I was asleep, my friend tried to finish the job.  Unsigned code replaced my original files, my box bit the dust, he let me know in the morning.  I tried to unlock the hard drive, using HDD unlock, but it wouldn't stay unlocked.  I guess I didn't fully comprehend how to use the program.

Anyway, I see that the problem is most likely a TSOP problem, which can be fixed by "the 3 wire trick."  It sounds like I need to have a softmod properly installed, so I can reflash my TSOP.  I only have one Xbox, so if I can't get the box to boot up so I can install the softmod properly, what option do I have for fixing my busted TSOP?

On a related note, as I understand it, the TSOP and LPC boot methods operate seperate from one another.  So in theory, should it not be booting anyway, as I have an Xecuter3 properly (as far as I can see) installed?  Perhaps what I read was incorrect and they don't operate independantly per se.  Any info on how to fix my problem, and any correction on my understanding of the boot sequence would be very much appreciated.

When you get a FRAG, it usually means that the Xbox can't find a valid bios image, whether that's from the TSOP or a modchip.

In your case and from what you are telling me I doubt there is anything wrong with the TSOP, it sounds like that either the X3 has an incorrect bios for your Xbox, you're booting from a bios bank that is blank or the Xapt3r is incorrectly installed or has moved and not making a proper connection.

Was the Xbox every running properly with the X3 or has this just happened recently?

The botched soft-mod is what screwed it originally.  Then it sat too long unplugged, and I was getting error 16 to boot.  So the clock is fucked, and it wont load the dashboard anyways, due to corrupted files.  I just now installed the Xecuter, and it's giving me the 3boot frag.

well, there goes $25...  The Xapter is useless.  In my 1.0, it was not seating correctly, because of a chip nearby.  The Xapt3r has a dent in it to accomodate a capacitor nearby, but not for the chip, so it wouldn't lay properly on the side opposite of the screw...  So my chip needed to be held down.  Swapping out the Xapt3r for the pin header has in fact, fixed the problem.  If that isn't a kick in the nuts, I don't know what is.  Feel free to toss this thread in the n00b section, mods.
