Stop Tsop Flashing!
« on: December 17, 2004, 08:55:00 AM »

I have been TSOP flashing for over a year and have successfully flashed over 120 xboxes.  I've flashed virtually every tsop (minus Sharp) and have encountered virtually every problem that you can experience (all but two successfully fixed)

With the release of the 1.6, TSOP flashing is no longer an option and telling your friends/clients to scour the pawn shops for older xboxes has gotten a bit out of hand.

Last night, I successfully modded a 1.6 with upgraded HDD using the UXE soft mod and I must say that in my opinion it's the best thing that's been released on xbox-scene in terms of modding.  It was easier than TSOP'ing and the ability to recover from your mistakes far outweighs that of TSOP'ing.

There is ABSOLUTELY no difference between my TSOP Flashed 1.0 and the Soft-Modded 1.6 in terms of features and functionality.  Both have upgraded HD, MXM Dashboard, MS Dash, Emulators, APPs, etc....

Not to ramble, but I was a TSOP loyalist but had to adapt to the changing times of modding.  So many people came to my house with brand new 1.6 boxes and I was forced to turn them away and I don't do modchips anymore, especially with the new xbox live banning techniques, plus I'm not that great at soldering :(

Last but not least, the UXE soft mod works on ALL VERSION, ALL KERNELS 1.0-1.6.  Just someting to think about.

Soft moddings great on the wallet, but it can be a pain if something goes wrong (when itdosent its great)

for me a mod-chip is the safest, followed by a tsop and then a softmod.

but as I said.. for a budget solution that is cheap and works well a softmod is great.. you just have to be carefull what you delete tongue.gif

he wanna buy a 160gb HD cheap? oh wait, its not lockable so you cant use it on your softmod tongue.gif

i dont like softmods because all MS has to do is zap a few updates and your all screwed over, also i would never sacrifice the ability to direct boot unsigned code

Either that, or the person you softmodded loads a DVD that updates the xbox dash files, then they come callin' you, talking 'bout, "IT's NOT WORKING mad.gif

I prefer just installing a cheap chip such as the duox2 or the clevermod
I dont really trust tsops since there is always that chance that it wont be successful (seems to happen more often than not). And as mentioned above, softmods have too many possabilites of getting screwed over.
It takes me ten minutes total to install a cheap mod chip and upgraded hard drive.
so I may make 5-10 bucks less on the job but who really cares if it makes it easier for me.

just my .02

hardly, i do almost nothing but TSOPs and not a single problem

the thing is you dont hear about ti when someone has a successful flash, they are off enjoying their modded xbox, they only post when theres a problem

but i suppose someone will come along and say the same is true for softmods

yup thats true...
screw ur xbox

flashing tsop is much better or i can say best..

before, i softmoded my xbox, went all well but when MS updated their dashboard it got mess up... the only to resolve this to buy a chip, after i fix the problem, i thinking about falshing my tsop of my xbox, so i did and work much best than softmod... and just sell my modchip after...

I really think alot of you missed my point.  YOU CAN'T FLASH A VERSION 1.6.  Most people began TSOP'ing because they didn't want to fool with modchips or are just plain CHEAP.  So, unless you only encounter xbox versions 1.0-1.5, you better start looking into softmods.  And in terms on getting your dashboard updated, you'd be a fool to try to log onto Xbox Live with all the recent banning and if you're foolish enough to have your dashboard set to "automatic logon" you deserve to have your soft mod ruined.

so you cant TSOP flash a 1.6, i just install a 10 dollar modchip

if your someone who mods xboxes for other people and you dont want to mess with chips i would suggest going back to your day job and leave modding to the professionals
