I recently tried to do a TSOP mod on a refurbished Xbox. I bridged the two solder points on top of the motherboard. When I ran the 007 game exploit, I encountered this problem:

# ./raincoat -r backup.bin
raincoat Flasher 0.7 Feb 20 2004 by andy@
Reading raincoat.conf... 151 flash types re

UNKNOWN DEVICE manf=0x1F, dev=0x07
Try adding the device ID to raincoat.conf
#

I am using Raincoat 0.7 and seem to have no problems before.

Any ideas? Could M$ have done something to this refurb to prevent TSOP flashing?

no, its just a new brand of chip, i believe 1F is an Atmel

is this a 1.0-1.1 or 1.2-1.5? probably 1.2-1.5, if so, use this def in raincoat.conf

Hi raincoat guru / lordvader129,

Slightly off topic...
I have SST 49LF020A based Aladdin XT which can't be flashed using raincoat 0.7. In evox, the flash ID is "dab0". However, I still couldn't flash using raincoat 0.7 even after adding / changing the following line in raincoat.conf:

Flash = 0xdab0,"SST 49LF020A",0x40000

I got the following message in raincoat:
INVALID MANUFACTURER ID: 0x09

I never had any problem flashing any SST 49LF020 based Aladdin chips using raincoat 0.7 before.

However, I had no problem flashing the new Aladdin XT with SST 49LF020A by using evox with the following lines added in evox.ini:

Flash = 0xbf61,"SST - 49LF020",0x40000
Flash = 0xbf52,"SST - 49LF020A",0x40000
Flash = 0xdab0,"SST - 49LF020A",0x40000

Any idea how to make raincoat 0.7 flash the damned SST 49LF020A?

i think the xt has some new flash protect feature, having only used the chip once, and not having flashed it i couldnt tell you how to go about disabling it, check the alternative mods forums

you could do what i did, take the SST chip out of a modchip i had already flashed with the bios i want to use and put it in the aladdin, lol
