I see that MC360 is going to include a game save manager, which is awesome.

That only leaves one feature I'd really like to see in XBMC: video previews. Any chance of that happening?

Not at the moment, let us sort out the XBMC version first

I think thats exactly what hes saying he wants to add preview videos to XBMC so they display when you select a game like in UnleashX. Not that he wants the unleashX version of the skin
This is of coarse more of a xbmc programming thing than a skin thing so the skin wont be doing it until its supported in the code

Yep, Jezz is right. That is what I meant.

I'd like to see preview videos added to XBMC. Just wondering if it is under consideration at all.

You don't need a video preview, since you already know what game you'll be playing, and what it looks like.

essentially its called eyecandy which is what 90% of this skin will be anyway the reason for it is it looks great. Its like saying why do you need visualizations when playing audio?

but on the usefull side I got a young child who can't read the names properly and a preview video lets them know what game they are going to play

Not everyone will now what the game involves. Having a preview will be benefitial. Like when you want to show your friend your game collection and they dont know how Halo looks like.
Anyway it is more on the xbmc side than the skin so it is pointless to talk about it especially now that the xbmc-team has called for a feature freeze.

I wasn't too happy about christmas this year mainly because of the xbox360 delay and when I finnaly got it I wasn't impressed. It looks like christmas is coming kind of late for me with the mc360 round the corner and xbmc 2.0 due soon.

i too would LOVE to see this feature ...
specially seeing how the MC360 skin uses previews in UnleashX

and i would presume XBMC could esily pull this off, it already plays stuff in background when playing music, or comming out of films with X ..but then XBMC is in feature freeze so wont be worked on till after v2 i reckon if atall ..

its an XBMC request, we have no control, my guess is the way XBMC handles videos atm, it would take to long to load a preview video into a window and it couldnt do it with a video already playing in the background.

The preview vids arent generally that big in size, maybe it would be possible to play the preview video in the background instead of the usual animation, ie the ripples or the music viz? This in itself wouldnt be too bad if you only had one video.

The main problem I see is telling XBMC to differentiate between the vid for each game. In Unleash you can customise each menu items icon and preview video using the context menu, hence setting preview vids for even 50 or so games doesnt take that long.
I am not that familiar with XBMC but I imagine even if the feature was implemented that adding a preview vid would invovle editing xmls each and every time, a right pain in the ass!

So anyway, my point was...........lol, erm, oh yeah, I would love preview vids too simply cos they look nice but doubt we will have them on XBMC.

If anyone wants to take that as a challenge and come up with a mod please feel free!! A preview vid in the box on the games home page where the game icon is currently displayed would be nice!

are yes... inplace of ripples would be ace !what a good idea, like ya say the previews are only small, like the ripples...
also having them like the MC360 unleashx skin

and talking of ripples where are they placed

ya could quickly test it...
and having it like unleashx, preview.wmv file in the root of selected (like icons)
