OK 1st off, I've done plenty of TSOP's but never used switch's or anything. Just basic, solder two points and flash with X2 4983 Bios.
The machine I have a problem with is a v1.1 xbox and am trying to flash with 007AUF raincoat .7
I telnet and all goes well, I backup the original bios with no problem using
./raincoat -r orig_bios.bin
Detects HYNIX HY29F080 and backs up bios. I was always under the impression that if the backup worked fine then both points were connected fine??
But then when I went to flash with the X2 4983 BIOS (as I've done countles times on other machines) I get this error below and the machine now frags after re-starting itself 3 times.
Starting at address 0x000000...
Erasing...
ERASE ERROR AT +0x0...read 0x48
Done
Error: Erase failed for block at +0x0, reads as 0x4C
Could your chip be write-protected?
Completed
Any help would be appreciated, I understand I may need to get a mod chip for this. If so whats the best solderless one, easy to fit. I don't fancy soldering loads of wires, this machine has bad karma for me now.
