AAAHH!

Ok, here's the deal
Last night, before, the hard drive came in the mail today, i did the 007 with evox installer, got into evox from the save file, and unlocked the hard drive, but didn't do the flash. because the box i am modding is a 1.0 and i needed to load a 1 mb bios on the memory card - it had a 256k on it.
Then, stupid me, I turned off the box before locking the hard drive again.
Now today, I go to boot it up, and being that the hard drive is unlocked and the retail bios is still present, it will not boot, just gives an error screen.

I have a modded box that I can work from, but I just need to know if anyone has any ideas on how to lock the hard drive and/or get the passwork from the hdd to lock it via PC.

Use the hot swap trick and then lock it using your modded xbox and config magic.  Same thing happened to me.

if your modded box has a modchip install that chip in the unmodded xbox so you can lock the HD, otherwise you will need a modchip in order to lock and HD to that xbox


and BTW, your probably gonna slap yourself, but evox resizes a 256k bios to fit a 1mb chip, so you could have gone ahead witht he flash

explain how you did that hot swap trick, I really don't like plugging and unplugging hard drives while they are on

i locked it with my other modded box, but it still won't boot

I was thinking of unsoldering my xecuter chip and resoldering it to the retail box, then flashing the thing that way

thats cuz its locked with the other motherboard (each motherbaord has a different lock code)

yeah, but it is gonna be a bitch to do so...

that would be after soldering it on, to boot with it get to the lock/unlock option via evox, flip the chip OFF, then lock it again after the xecuter is turned off?

to ease things a bit try to get another wire harness for the chip, that way you dont have to desolder it from your old xbox (and you can leave the harness in the new one in case you ever need to put the xecuter in it again)


just install the chip, boot slayers, lock the HD (preferably with config magic, its under eeprom editing) then disable the chip, reboot and flash the TSOP the way you wanted to (no, you cant flash the TSOP from slayers after booting with the chip enabled)

i do this when i forget to lock it on a softmod.

what to do goto other xbox thats modded unlock that drive.
save epprom on hdd or backup you need it.
remove that hdd form xbox insert other unlocked drive

boot it
get eeprom form other hdd if you ever run backup from evox, you are on the save site.

place it in the data folder of config magic eeprom.bin see xml for other location or so.

then boot on the modded xbox with other unlocked hdd config magic.
press start load bin, check if your epprom info changes, if so good.


then write epprom to prom you can reboot to check if its good on the eeprom the lock drive.
remove or move eeprom.bin from data dir. place in orignal eeprom from xbox do samething as above. lock other drive problem solved no pc need.

lock it with hd manager if u got ur eeprom code.

if u dont have this i dont see any way to lock the drive for your box.

exept if u have a chip u can boot the hdd in unlocked state.

aight, i got it working, i just tossed my xecuter 2.2 in the retail box, booted it up into evox from the 007 save, locked the hard drive, then started all over again.

All this work so I could get to where I was at the beginning

oh well, at least it's modded now...
