Xtv Skin Beta Released

Thanks for your help there chi3f regarding the movie trailers.

Just one more thing I'm trying to sort:

I'm a long-time user of xTV for xbmc. Clean, simple, speedy.

But I'm looking to get the intro added, you know, the appleTV style intro.

The only site I can locate the movie file is here:
(and it's a dead link to the movie download)

http://savvygeek.com/xbmc_xtv/

I'm using the latest rev. of xTV.

Can anyone advise me where to download this movie?
(or be kind enough to up it to Rapidshare or similar)?
Can anyone advise me how to set this up?

(I read something about needing an older rev. which has the option to turn it on or off, but I don't know what the current version allows).  -I'd rather keep a newer revision.

Thanks

Hi all-

I've been modding for a year now, I'm using XBMC, and just stumbled across xTV.  I am more than impressed with this gem, absolutely beautiful, elegant, simple, and efficient.  Good show chi3f!!

I am wondering the same as PantsOnFire in that I cannot seem to find the appleTV style intro movie either. .? I've seen more than a few people asking for it though.

Any help is appreciated!  And once again, "WOW" doesn't say enough for this wonderful piece of work.  Thank you!

Any help trying to locate a guide for adding the xTV boot movie, or at least if its possible on a softmod.

Thanks,
~Ben

Hey guys...

The Intro Movie is possible on a soft mod.

I have uploaded a zip file to RapidShare. It includes all the file required to get it working. INCLUDING a txt file explaining how it's done!

http://rapidshare.co..._Video.zip.html

Enjoy!

Now, I didn't read the whole thread, but does anyone have the original splash screen?

Hey dudeinator,

thanks a lot for fixing this intro script! Cool! I don't know if I'm the only one, but when I now start xTV I see first the Home Window Skin and then the video starts.

I have followed the instructions and changed the Harddisk Video Cache (under Settings>>System>>Cache) to 2048kb. I have also tried several different cache sizes - no changes.

How is it possible to delay the starting of the the Home Window Skin? Or any other solution?

thanks

I DO NOT know! It has been bugging me too! I've been poking around in a few of the files, and cant seem to get anything to help. I have run the gamut on the cache settings, even tired checking off the no cache option on the actual video itself.

I noticed, in the startup.xml file (i think that's the one) there is a "delay" in there but I can;t seem to change that value with any effect.

I am hoping another lurker (like myself  happy.gif ) happens to be watching the thread and can help out!

Using a script to do it is not the best way to go about it. It can be done fully from within the skin's code. Here is a better way to go about it.

That patch works for both screen formats and the video is a user definable option.

The link is not dead. I just made it today and know for a fact it works. Here is another one for you to try. With this version there are no scripts or playlist making required, it is all handled by the skin.

You should check your skin files. I applied this patch to a fresh build of xTV and it worked fine.

Thanks CHI3f, your code works great ! Cool. btw, what xtv version do you use? Wondering if there is a newer version than the one I use.

dudeinator, I tried your script, but I could not find the playlist anywhere!?  sad.gif  Very strange. in the userdata folder there are no playlists stored. And also searching for m3u or pls does not find any. Any idea why?

Thanks guys for helping out here!

For reasons too long to go into here, I need an older copy of xTV, the older the better.  This is turning out to be harder to locate than I had imagined.  CHI3f, you wouldn't happen to have any old compiles lying around, would you?

I don't but you can get whatever revision you want using tortoise svn and just reverting to which ever revision you want.

In my opinion the best skin for SD TV's.

Perhaps the best for HDTVs as well--it's one of the very few skins I've found that can still operate snappily at 1080i.  By the way CHI3f, I love xTV, it's the only skin I use nowadays.  It's simply perfect.

Yup, after modding the rss streams, menus, font sizes and other bits. Its now my only skin on 3 SD bedroom boxes and on 1 HD @ 720p (my prefered res) downstairs. I think ill be hard pushed to find a better skin that suits my tastes. I updated a couple or 4 boxes just recently for a few friends of mine and they all go shipped now with xtv as the standard dash. Love it. Thanks.

Hey CHI3f, stellar skin, I've been using it for quite a while now, but I just updated to the latest XBMC (T3CH XBMC 2009-04-04 SVN rev19213-9.04-ALPHA1) as well as what I believe to be the latest version of xTV (grabbed from the googlecode page & also tried via Xbox Skin Manager), and I'm having problems with a few screens.

After updating my movie database, I noticed that if I try to manually search for a movie, the window that comes up that would have the titles is blank. Also, if the movie info has already been scraped and I switch from "Plot" to "Cast", the "Cast" area is just blank. I tried several other skins and all of the info is there, but the windows/screens are showing blank in xTV.

Also, going to System -> Download Themes produces a blank screen as well. It shows 19 Objects at the bottom of the window, but I can't select anything. I decided to try to take a screenshot for you, but clicking the thumbstick brings up the Screenshots Folder window where I can see Ok, Cancel and New Folder, but can't select anything here either.

Any chance this is a bug in the new build, or an issue with the new build of Media Center, or maybe I'm just not using the latest SVN of xTV? Normally I'd think it was something I messed with, but this is a completely fresh install on a newly modded box, so there are no remnants of old versions or anything to cause conflicts. Hope I've provided enough info. Keep up the good work!

TIA

P.S. I found an xTV build I had from sometime in January and it has the same issues. On that note, I'm leaning toward the possibly of a change in XBMC that doesn't play nice with something in xTV, but I could be mistaken.

i'm experiencing the same issues which remedee described..
scripts become unusable because you cant see the content.
i noticed that the problem occurred after switching to a newest tech (built from 1st may 09), curiously i did not have any issues while using the 3.3 09 built
it would be great if you could look into it...i dont wanna stop using this skin mate!
