First Time Tsop Attempt
« on: October 09, 2004, 01:00:00 PM »

I have a 1.4 that I am trying to flash.  I has the W49F020T chip, I have bridged the 2 sets of points(close to R7D1 and R7D10) on the topside of the mother board.  I am following SLuSHIE's tut and it says that those are to only to points that need to be jumped.  I have noticed in another picture that (http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/tsop-images.php) it also shows a point on the bottom to jump.  My question is do I need to bridge all 3 sets or just the 2 set's from the tut?  I have the top sets jumped but when trying to flash using 007raincoat I get a failed attempt.  Also are there any points that can be tested with a multi meter to make sure that the points are bridged? Thanks

Sometimes with a winbond you need to bridge the bottom points as well, altho there are ppl here who say that isnt true but I learned it first hand that it is.  First make sure the top 2 sets are jumped correctly, and if they are and it wont flash, go ahead and join the bottom points and try it again.

:( Dude Check all your solder point make sure you solder the right place, and the solder joint are connected, and you don't need to solder the bottom part of the board, I have done it with out the bottom solder.

  Good Luck!!! :P

make sure the solder is shinny and not dull looking or wont be good enough connex, also put quite a bit of solder on, has to be more than just painted accross.

is the game ejecting ? u never told us what happens when not working..

Make sure your Raincoat is up to date with the chip descriptions added for for TSOP. They can be found in this form.

Well, I tried it with 007raincoat and the disk ejected then rebooted.  I tried it with 007exov and it says erasing but the progress bar never moves.  How do I tell if my raincoat is uptodate for the chip?  It could be my soldering skills...I have a conductive ink pen that im going to try out.  Thanks

It turns out that I didn't clean the points well enough.  I used polish remover with acetone instead of straight acetone.  Used the real stuff and a microtip conductive ink pen and it flashed first time with no problem....
