Hard Drive Locked V1.1 Changed Eeprom Lock
« on: February 20, 2004, 05:33:00 PM »

so i'm officially part of this v1.1 xbox lock code issue... i started out with a non-chip mod, i had issues with evox, and figured out how to fix that... the only problem is - in this process; i must have locked the hard drive with the wrong code... not sure how - but i look at it in liveinfo2 and it now tells me a  different code... i backed up all my eeprom stuff - so i can go back to it and see it will generate the orig. code... but with it will now show a different code. (using hdlock, hdunlock, hddisabl; as well as the other DOS utility that didn't require atapwd) no idea how this happened  - lets just say - that i broke my orig 10 gig from seagate, a 120 gig i bought as a replacement (was working) and a buddy's that had the same version xbox... they all are no longer working.

FYI - anyone who is trying to load a locked drive in windowz... if you boot it attached to your intel machine - it will take like 5-6 min to boot - but it will eventually boot, so you don't have to worry about this plugging it in after the fact issue... i've tested this with 3 drives and both win xp, and xebian on my intel machine.

anyways... so i'm told that i need to get a modchip and configmagic to make this unlock... so i'm now a proud new owner of the xenium with the 1.1 os... it's beautiful i must say... so i've tried the configmagic on the slayers disc, and the xenium drive unlock, and - well only one actually said unlock successful... but it didn't matter cuz it didn't werk... so now i'm lost - i don't care about the data on these drives, what i would like to happen would be to just get rid of the lock codes alltogether, and use these drives for something else... i traded in my 120 gig for a new one (warranty) so i've got that unlocked - werking with evox... but these other 2 i'd like to just get werking... can't seem to find anyone that knows how to completely destroy the data on the drives... i even got the low level format utility from seagate... it just errored about 7000 times... i knew the sectors weren't being repaired... so my question is - how do i destroy the data alltogether to just have these drives as normal drives?..  i'm running a v1.1 xbox i've got my eeprom data backed up - all the lock codes, and all the known utilities... i've had no success - as well as seen many others with this same issue... please send me as much data as possible... anyone else have this issue - please post here!
ps... i've seen companies out there that say they will repair xbox hard drives for a fee... that they are experienced technicians with xbox hardware... i'd really rather not have to send these drives out to fix them.

Any luck on information that you posted above?  I have a locked hard drive, surely there must a utility to reformat it so it can be used again.

if you locked the drives with config magic, the master password is TEAMASSEMBLY

your pretty much out of luck and have paperweights if you dont have the eeprom bins backed up, liveinfo needs the eeprom loaded that locked the drive to be able to tell you the correct password.

I have a complete backup copy of my xbox c drive on the computer.  I had evox dashboard installed on the xbox (toast now).  I believe I did the evox backup option long time ago.  I found a file called "eeprom.bin" "C:\backup" folder from the xbox.  Does this mean I have the keys or away to unlock the hard drive with a new xbox or from my computer.  Also I have a file called "hddkey.bin".

My xbox motherboard is toasted.  So I have a 120GB drive that is locked.  I want to put this into a new xbox.  Can I used liveInfo with the files above to unlock that drive or configmagic on the new xbox...?

i locked my hard drive with hddlock... so the configmagic idea is out of the question... i'm not sure entirely what to do at this point... i'm assuming i've got 2 paperweights... but i know there must be someone out there that has some kind of experience with the eeprom lock codes...
