A Question
« on: February 19, 2004, 05:41:00 PM »

I don't know really where to post this, so if a moderator could move this post to the proper place it would be nice.

Anyways back to my question/suggestion/idea.

First, I was wondering is there a way to capture video or capture screenshots of gameplay and stuff.

Second, I have this idea for the GameCube and GameBoy Advance connect. Would it be possible to do this, make a link with a USB cable and a GameCube cable. Connect them so you could connect your GameCube to your PC through the cable and do the connectivity feature with a Emulator?

look here for How to take screenshots and video captures for newbies: rarred-html

or just read this:

HOW TO TAKE SCREENSHOTS AND VIDEO CAPTURES FOR NEWBIES ;)

-Where to find this tools ?

For Tatx dual bios and its plugin try www.Xbox-scene.com or #xbins channel on Irc.

For the XDK installation try this tutorial http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/retail-to-debug.php wich teaches you how to compile the sources, or try to find the complex release with the 4627 Debug Kernal converted to work on Retail Xbox. In this release you will find a debug bios and the content of the c and e xbox drives to run the XDK SHELL (you just need to copy/paste).

For all XDK info about how to get it,  you won't find anything on ww.xbox-scene.com or on usual info sites for opened Xbox. You will have to find the XKD by yourself (try good p2p softs instead ;) ).

1) Installing XDK on your Pc And on your XBOX.
Ok when you have extracted all the files from the XDK complex release, you must have three (3) things: first you must have 2 folders. One is called C and the other is called E. And then you must have the "complex_4627debug.bin" bios file (but we won't use it).

-> copy all the content of the C folder in your C xbox drive and the content of the E folder in the E Xbox drive.

<- C:\      E:\ -> >

Now, let's Install the XDX on your pc.

-launch the setup (XBox - XDK - Feb2003 - XDKSetup5344.exe). At the the end of the installation you will find in your c:\program files a new folder called MS XBOX SDK.

-Now go to c:\program files\MS xbox sdk\xbox\bin and launch the file Xbesetup.exe .(this will install the windows explorer shell extension for Xbox).

-After that, still in the same folder, launch netsimsetup.exe.

- Now copy the C:\Program Files\MS Xbox SDK\xbox\symbols\Latest\xbdm.dll file in your E xbox drive.(maybe it's allready in the E xbox drive)

-Now in the E:\devkit\ of the xbox create or modify the file XBDM.ini. this file will allow to boot the xbox in debug mode with a Static Ip adress. This is very useful cause if you don't do that, the ip will change when you launch a game or an application and the screen capture function won't be available.

Edit xbdm.ini like this:

[xbdm]
dbgname name=XXXX
staticip addr=EEDDCCBBAA
memtrack flags=0x0 stackdepth=0x0

where XXX is the name you want to give to your Xbox (ie: Xbox) and EEDDCCBBAA is the static ip adress. you want.

Be careful don't write your ip as usual!!! you must type it in hexadecimal, and from right to left. for example instead of typing 192.168.0.82 you have to write 5200A8C0 (it works by pair 192 is equal to Co in hexadecimal etc.... look at the colours). The easiest way to convert Decimal values in hexdecimal is to use the calculator of windows in scientific mode.

2)Flashing the bios for debug mod and configuring the xbox hard disk to boot any dashboard (evolution x, xbmp...).

Once you have found the Tatx_debug_dual bios, flash it via Evolution X. Be carefull ! this is a 1024k bios. in fact it's 512Kx2 so make sure your chip can be flashed with a 512kb bios and not only with a 256 kb one.

Now let's configure the Tatx plugin:

Edit dashboard.xbx as follow: \Device\Harddisk0\Partition2;evoxdash.xbe Where partitionX is 2 for C: 1 for E: and 6 for F: and XXX.xbe is the file the xbox runs at sartup instead of the yshell (xdx launcher).

So if you run Evolution X , installed on the C drive, you must type in:

\Device\Harddisk0\Partition2;evoxdash.xbe

(NOTA) I personnaly use Xbmp as an OS. So it's exactly the same way to proceed. But if you want xbmp to be launched at startup, you must configure the XBOX Media Player.cut
