Flash Tsop From Lpc Bus Boot (cheapmod)
« on: May 01, 2004, 12:31:00 AM »

Hi all,
like a dumb ass i flash a bfm bios over the TSOP...
Yes, i know... I did it at 4 a.m. i was tired...  :boring:
So the TSOP can't boot neither with the bank switch.

I hope i can restore it using cheapmod i got, but looking for past articles and xbins the only way i found is using the evox_matrix_tsop_flash bios with matrix.
It's 256K so my cheapmod can accomodate this. Before proceding i'd like to know if someone already used this bios over a cheapmod.

Anyone can help me?
Thank you all!

if its a v 1.0 or 1.1 you can use the TSOP d.6 (its packed with evox dashbaord build 3921)

the matrix TSOP bios wont work, since its designed to use the matrix's eject trick

if the xbox is 1.2 or later youll need a 29-wire mod to repair the TSOP (althoug leaving the cheapmod in and never disabling it will work as wel)

Well, thank you... You address me to the correct way, i think.
But i still got a problem. I look for infos about the d6 tsop and cheap mod but i can't find anything specific. Checking the tsop d6 bios with XBTool i found D:\DEFAULT.XBE as the only boot configuration.

So as i understand i must:
a) Prepare a bootable CD with Evox and a 1MB image to be flashed on the TSOP (I got a 1.0 XBox)
B) Flash the tsop d6 bios over my Cheapmod.
c) Disable the Cheapmod (D0)
d) Boot the box with the cd inserted.

I'm right?????
Thank you very much.

you need to put point a15 to ground, boot with the cheapmod enabled, but flip the switch over 1/2 second after booting (it may take a while to get the timing right)  <

if you dont care about the TSOP being hosed, any old modchip will have you up and running, less wires is always better, just a heads up  <

Thank you for your answers!
But i must be careful... So just to be clear.

I must keep a15 at gnd for half second or i disable the chip after half second?
And what about a15 what is for? Isn't about bank switching?
I got a BFM bios inside my Tsop so i can't use it for booting...
And what about the previous steps i mentioned?
Must i really build a bootable cd that the tsop d6 bios is going to access?

disable the chip after half a second, you cut the a15 wire right before you flash

not sure what the purpose of a15, its not bank switch (thats a18 and a19) probably has something to do with TSOP+LPC diagnotics

im not sure if the TSOP d.6 can boot that, but its worth a try

i dont know, i thought the TSOP d.6 was supposed to have the same boot sequence as the regualr d.6 (ive never actually had to use it myself, i just know the procedure)  <
