Recovering From A Bad Tsop Flash
« on: April 22, 2004, 06:41:00 AM »

Today I went to go flash my onboard TSOP and everything seemed to be going good. it asked me to press Y to flash the bios, so I clicked Y, and then it went to delete the previous bios and flash the new one, when it got to that point my xbox just froze. So I decided to open my xbox to see what happened, and what do ya know, my wire came off. Is there any other possible way i can reflash my bios. I dont have any mod chip and im not all that great with soldering. I can post a pic, but can anyone host it for me?  <

Did it actually delete the bios?  Does the xbox FRAG now?  Give more details of what happens now.  <

went thru flashing my bios, on the screen it said that it was deleting the bios, then flashing it. but for some reason it was taking forever to flash it and then i knew it froze. i left it on for atleast 2 mins. so of course i turned my xbox off then on. and all it does is turn on, then off, then on, off, then on and nothing happenes.  <

Umphrey2k3-

I feel inclined to mention that turning off the box might not have been the best idea.  Yes I'm a noob...but I'm only forwarding information to try to raise awareness about this particular problem. (Thanks to Exobex, hope you don't mind me linking this)

However, I'm not sure what you mean by

Does that mean you think you have a 256k TSOP or does that mean you think you tried to flash a 256k bios?

Considering everything, it isn't very reasonable for you to post a request for help, and, according to the timestamp that I recieve, only wait 19 min before you decide

well, i guess im fucked.
I know from personal experience that there are a lot of really knowledgeable people who are more than willing to help out people they don't know.  I've made a habit of being verbose....but I'll resist the temptation here (at least as much as possible at this point).  Point is, I'd personally appreciate it if you didn't respond 6 times to your own thread and then proceed to not answer any of the questions that people ask you.  If i'm alone on this one, somebody tell me, I've got no ego whatsoever.  <

Version 1.0s have a 1mb bios!

Guess that is why it didn't work. :)

There is no way to reflash the TSOP by booting using an LPC modchip, unless you get certain ones. I'll leave this to someone who's my experienced with fixing bad flashes.

You can always buy a modchip and forget the TSOP  <
