i won't be desoldering his eeprom but i'll wire it to my motherboard (i removed my eeprom), boot my xbox with the 1.1 eeprom, disconnect the eeprom and replace it with mine and flash it with configmagic.

let us know if it worked

write protect your eeproms, put em on a switch!  seems like this problem just came out of the woodwork,  im starting to wonder if theres a software bug somewhere doing this. (besides the avalaunch problem i read something about last week) but i dont use avalaunch.

well maybe if you could show me how... (or better, where?)

ICEUK thats the one.. quarter way down the page. the Elvis multi programmer v3.5. Also available from http://www.cardman.c...rogrammers.html for 45 quid + postage and directly available from the manufacturer http://www.adteknik....glish/order.htm for 55 euro + postage..

I do not know if the USB version works as i only have the Multiprogrammer 3.5 Serial version

do you need special software to flash the eeprom?
i just mailed adteknik.se a them for a quotation and would like to know if i need special software to use it.
and how do you connect the eeprom to it?

edit* nevermind you already answered the first question...
QUOTE
it the old faithfull Multi programmer v3.5 aka the Elvis programmer used in the sat world for reading and writing wafers and goldcards etc etc. With the eeprom wired with flying leads to the ic socket and running multiprog v1.40 on the i2c page.

If i could attach a pic without having to upload to my website i would show you what the programmer and chip looks like when setup.

its not too professional but you can see it does the job of dumping and flashing the eeprom chip

just to be sure it's this one right?: Multiprogrammer 3.5 Serial version (art 16) with the Multiprog Utility V1.51 (sure looks like the one in your pic).
so this should work on all eeproms?

could you just make 1 more shot (or a diagram) as to wich direction the chip must be facing and what socket pins are used?

thx again m8.

in theory any 24c02xxx should do.  i have 2 x corrupt atmel 24c02n and a 24cw023 that is ok. ... i wonder if this corruption is common to just atmel 24c02's..

Anyone else that has corrupt eeproms what are the markings and chip mfrs..

To Pandoriaantjeyes that is the right programmer..the pic below is not the best info but is should give you a rough idea on how the chip will go on the programmer and how the software is setup to read and write.

all we need now is ICEUK to say he has an atmel 24c02n and we have 4 xboxes with atmel eeproms all gone corrupt.

Hi. I have fried my 24C02.
I have ordered a new (not Atmel though). Would it work if I use configmagic to lock a harddrive, and write the "EEPROMBackup.bin" onto the new 24C02. Will my xbox wake up? Is it a special way to program the bin-file, or is it straight forward. I tried to solder out the eeprom from a working xbox, but the romdump was different from the romdump from configmagic....

they both should be exactly the same size..
If the configmagic eeprombackup.bin is from the same eeprom as you have tried to read they should be exactly the same unless one was taken before the hdd unlock and the other taken after the hdd unlock. (i think !!)

might be a thought to get an 8 pin dil socket, only about 5p from a good electronics shop, remove fooked eeprom, solder dil sockect to board, and then your free to hot swap all you like (might comin handy when repairing), also...

a litle l8, but you sure that would fit?

an 8pin dil would not fit an 8 pin smt. the only way would be to use small flying leads from the smt pads to the dil socket......  I have come accross 8 pin smt sockets though but have no idea where the heck i saw them or how much they cost.
