Ethernet Problems
« on: February 17, 2004, 10:09:00 AM »

i seem to have a proble, my xbox worked fine for a while and then i switched it wit a friend to ftp to it. His works fine and all of a sudden i put mine back in and the dam thing wouldnt get a IP. the link lights on my router are on, and the link on the xbox is on, but the avtivity light on the xbox dosnt blink at all unless i hold the plug in realy tight. If i hold it real tight it still wont get a ip but it blinks a a constant rate.

I tried bypassing the ethernet jack by soldering pins 1,2,3 and 6 on the bottom of the motherboard stright to one end of a cable. I used the point on the bottom of the motherbaord which looked like they were from the jack. i tried it and my router link lights wont even go on.

do i have to solder all 8 wires? I used a multimeter to test the pin on the jack to the pin on the bottom of the motherboard but there is no continunity so am i using the wrong points or is it a sign i need to throw my $400+ worth xbox away.
