Is It Possible To Ftp Into The Xbox With Raincoat?
« on: April 21, 2004, 07:51:00 PM »

I've used the 007 trick with no MOD chip to flash a couple XBOX's and I really like how this works! My only complaint is that you have to hassel with burning a CD of Evox or what ever in order to your new Dash to your XBOX.
It would be a LOT easier if I could simply FTP into Raincoat and transfer my files via the 007 save hack, is this possible?  <

During my misadventures with raincoat... I was able to transfer files from my xbox to my PC by using ftp.  All i did was type "ftp://192.168.0.64" on the IE addressbar.  If nothing shows up, that's what happened to me the first time.  Just right click and select Login As...  Then, and I can't remember where I got the idea to try this but it worked,  use the login name and password "/tmp/root/" However, I never could figure out how to view the files on the DVD drive (the 007 disk)  and any time I tried to transfew files or change files I got a 550 error (permission denied).

So you can FTP, but you don't have write access AFAIK.  <

you have to remount the HD (via telnet) as read/write, as it is read only be default

personally i use an evox exploit, and have a link to the linux/raincoat xbe in evox  <

What exactly do you mean by Evox expoit? If I could get Evox or better yet, UnleashedX onto the XBOX without having to have a MOD chip, and without having to burn a CD, I'd be elated!  <

the gamesave you are using now loads a linux shell that you can run raincoat from

however, there are also gamesave exploits that load evox, i wouldnt recommend using it for anything other than flashing th TSOP, but at least you could FTP to make things easier when using raincoat  <

Aghh ok, now I'm beginning to see how these work! I've thrown together an update to the 007 with Evox exploit, but removed all BIOS files, as well as un-needed options from the Evox menu for safety's sake.

The old 007 with Evox was using an outdated copy of Evox which had FTP bugs out the ass. I replaced that with an updated copy of Evox and now everything works pefectly and fast.

This is a GREAT little tool for anyone tired of trying over and over, again and again to get the XBOX to read the damned CDRW! :)

Thankx again Vader!  <

It's always a good idea to have an evox cd (or another dash with solid ftp), in case something happens, you can always boot the cd to change files...

Although I don't have one myself, when changing over to XBMC as my dash the other day, i screwed something up in the config, but figured out that my MXM multi game disks have ftp =p  <

I've needed that emergancy disk a time or two, the problem with those disks is that half the time they don't load unless you burn them to a DVD-R, even on the Samsung drives. :/  <
