Problems Enabling 720p
« on: March 14, 2009, 06:00:00 AM »

I have chipped pal xbox with 250gb seagate hdd.
I have connected my xbox with a XCM-component cable to my Philips HDTV.
I want to enable 720p resolution on xbmc, but the resultion menu stays inactive whatever I do.
I tryed to change the resolution through UnleashX- but this didn't made my VIDEO HARDWARE menu active.
Then I managed to enable 720p and 1080i through Avalaunch ( I had to unlock my HDD and enable EEOPROM write), but still I don't have any succes with XBMC menu.
I have heard, that i shoud enable the resolution through the MS dash menu, but I don't have such settings there- only widescreen/letterbox/.. and PAL60.

I am running the latest XBMC release.
Can you please help me?

Do I have probably problems with my component cables?

You have to switch your Xbox to NTSC to enable the high definition modes. You do that with Enigmah video mode switcher, available from the usual places. It's also on AID.

Once the Xbox is in NTSC mode you can enable the high definition modes (720p, 1080i) from the MS Dash, and from XBMC.

I have the same problem and I downloaded Enigmah video mode switcher switched from PAL to NTSC, but when I'm trying to launch XBMC, Avalaunch or MS Dashboard to enable 720p 1080i they all freeze. And I have to reboot my xbox....

What can the problem be?

I have the latest XBMC
I do have checked that's my Xbox switched to NTSC

Please help!

Not to sound, well silly, but .. you do have component leads and not the standard scarts / composite ? You have enabled the res from ms dash ? try just 480p and 720p first as 1080i can be a bit hit / miss with some apps.

That's the case, I only have the original scart and the scart with optical audio output.... Is that the problem?

My xbox use's Smartexx v2 chip, with 120 seagate harddrive.

I can't get to MS Dhasboard with NTSC turned on (instead of original PAL) I get that screen telling me to call support...

If you need more info just tell =)

SCART cable = right leads.
Composite cable with SCART adapter tacked on the end = wrong leads.
