Hold X+Y as XBMC starts to enter debug mode. This does two things for you.

One, you'll see a constant memory reading in one of the corners of the screen.

Two, the log file gets filled with much more info then usual, which you can sift through to try and determine the cause of a given crash.

(The log goes in your XBMC folder).
