XBMC for Xbox 'Atlantis' released
« Reply #30 on: November 16, 2008, 04:23:00 AM »

OK so I'm loving the New XBMC,  its smooth.  The only problem I'm having now is with the .CUT files.  None of them seem to work now and I use them extensively for emulators.  Is anyone else having this problem and how can I fix it?

I use .cuts for emulators to make it so I can browse through box covers for games and launch games right from XBMC instead of going to an emulator first..

But I figured out my problem, it had nothing to do with XBMC,  just where I had files.  I wish there was a way to have video previews of games in XBMC without going to the emulator first though.

Other than that the new XBMC is great.  Its fast and sleek and does everything I want it to smile.gif  I love it,  I only run XBMC on my xbox but I use it every single day!

Great work, as always  biggrin.gif

Anyone knows a media center remote compatible with win xbmc? It´s a shame that MS dont let use the xbox360 remote control, or maybe with a media center remote receptor will work?

Which skin is that? Media Stream?

And is there really no one who's using the script installer tool? Does it even still exist?

I just grabbed the Windows build of this and put it on my laptop just to check it out.
Is it meant to thrash the hard disk when mousing over items on the main page? (Videos / images / music) etc?

The drive is thrashing and it's pausing, as if the JPG background picture per item isn't cached?
It's ... well sluggish the mouse slows down and all, once in a menu  it's fine.

1.6ghz Core 2 Duo, 2gb DDR2, Onboard intel crappy video but still, seems surprising?

Nice work, every release works a lot better!! Good job!

No, unfortunately not at all...

In fact the source database shows that the coders are quite often
going one step ahead to go two steps back. I do not see
a great advantage regarding the XBOX build. But I do see
some serious steps back. I do understand that the project lead
tries to route XBMC into the linux/windows/mac direction for some
obvious reasons. But that does not justify to cripple the original
xbox-xbmc effort. Especially the cut out of the XLinkKai client is
unforgiveable and shows a kind of "bad attidude" of the project
lead. There is *NO* justifiable reason to cut out a working
part out of the project. Even from a programmers point of view
it was absolutely rediculous to delete the Kai sources from the
latest builds.

@kingbongmaster Using .cut files seems to be a very cool idea:

What tool do you use for profiling the games (cover download etc.)?
What is the necessary Folder Structure?
Any manuals about that?

I made each and every single .cut file for all of my games myself lol

Heres the link to the forum page on how to do it.

using .cut files

and the skin I use is XTV with the mod that competes2win did, with all the bells and whistles, start up video etc..

@mik30:

Then by all means, put it back and update it so that it no longer causes crashes.

T3CH, thanks for building this final Atlantis release! I read somewhere that this is the final release for xbox, so no more T3CH releases, i guess...  sad.gif

Thanks for all the compiling you did in the past, much appreciated!

This is the "final" build of this particular release ("Atlantis"), as opposed to the "final" X-Box build. The idea is that people can get this copy and be reasonably certain it'll function correctly (as opposed to the usual releases we see, which have no such guarantees).

The last "final" build was a couple of years old or more. Both that and this build have bugs, mind you, but they're still a head above the rest.

Sorta.

Didn't any of the last three replies read what Bomb Bloke said? It's not the final release ever but just for this particular version.
