Anyone know, what would be cheaper?   Building a cheap media PC, or try to get another Xbox1?

Great Job,

but one question, does anyone know how to make a local update occur?
ie i have more than one xbox, so I would like to be able to download the latest version once, and send out to all 4 xbox's... (all e: /apps) then run the updater at my leasure, but this doesn't seem to work... recall reading in the change log about local updates... but cannot make this work...

does anyone have a solution to this?

or an app the use to download once and shell out to many xbox's... other than a normal FTP update... looking for something kewler... or maybe a modified script...

would be nice to download the update once, and then have all xbox's look for it from one location on my own lan instead of all of them going up to the network to grab a copy for each xbox.

once again great job on the release, looking forward to the next.

OK, who is responsible for the PM3.HD skin?  I hate it!  And by that I mean I love it, but can't use it :@  I've been happily using my own modified PM3, now its been bettered, and I don't have HD on my xbox, so I can't even use it.  Arghh:@
I agree with mcatrage though... I miss programs.

That  PM3.HD skin is pretty nice.

I also tried the Windows version. Too bad that the Xbox controllers (both the Xbox 1 and the Xbox 360 one) aren't supported out of the box. They work when using Xpadder, but not as well as the Xbox version.

Excellent job Team XBMC, & Jezz_X for the PM3.HD...you guys amaze! I know this is geared towards "Media" mainly at this point - but I too use the Programs button. If there is a person who understands .xml that adds a button for 'Programs' on the PM3.HD screen - could you share with us & explain which file & where you add it? I know I would be very greatful......  smile.gif

movie fanart: thumbnails appear to be loaded, but nothing show. once selection made, fanart doesn't download and/or change.

tv show fanart works great otherwise.

Beginning of the end happened years ago, with the advent of h.264, and XBMC Linux.

Don't believe me? Pull 10070, build it for the Xbox, and see if there's any features you miss compared to the most recent head. If you come up with anything other than 'weather' and 'shoutcast' (both of which work/worked, but the servers they depend on have changed), I'll be impressed.

Awesome

Does anyone know if it's possible to run a game from pm3.hd?  The programs link seems to be gone.

I presume you can run the .xbe from the file manager.

I love the New PM3 HD skin!
Couple of noob questions though...

1. What type of file do the Custom Backgrounds need to be in order to be "seen" by the Home Screen    Backgrounds file viewer? I am trying to use standard 1280x720 pixel jpgs.

In PM3, they get rolled up into skin/project mayhem III/media/textures.xpr . Simplest way to change them is to overwrite them in the source tree, and then recompile.

2.Is there any way to add the Arial Bold font I normally use in PM3 normal to PM3 HD?

You need to edit the font.xml for the resolution you're using. F'rinstance, I edited the one in 720p to add MeryoKe:

copy/paste an entire <fontset> tag, then replace id="" with what you'd like to appear in the menu, unicode with "false" if the font is a bitmap, or "true" if the font is a TTF with an extended character set (MSGothic, Meryo, that fat bastard that comes with Office, etc.). In each <font> tag, keep the <name> the same, and replace the <filename> with the font of your choice.  You'll have to experiment with <size> and <aspect> to get it looking nice.

Upload your font (with the same filename as you used in the XML!) to xbmc/media/fonts

Have a look at yafc: an FTP/FXP client that can be scripted from the command-line.

Access to file manager is a bit tricky and not very intuitive.

I guess skin designer had a media oriented environment that
was consistent for all platforms.

Very nice indeed!

Many many thanks to everyone to has a hand in coding this beautiful piece of software.   When I finally get around to setting up a HTPC and retiring my xbox, xbmc will sure as hell be install on it to grace on with HD gooodness.

I think what apothekary was referring to is the background picture override feature in settings -> skin settings -> backgrounds.

I would also like so help on this front.  I've tried all different file types but they just don't show up when browsing the folder location.

Er, the name has officially been XBMC for quite some time now. It's no longer called XBox Media Center.

I mean, what do programs have to do with media anyway? Granted, it's an essential button on the X-Box, but XBMC is now running on a few platforms. It makes sense that some skins should at the very least have an option to hide it.

the absense of "programs" in pm3hd isnt a big deal ..

if you need your emus/homebrew/games, make them favorites on a different skin first, then you will easily be able to access then via the favorites menu on pm3hd..
