Strange Tsop Flashing Problem
« on: April 06, 2004, 09:28:00 AM »

Here's a little problem I've run into while trying to flash my bud's TSOP.  It's a 1.3 box with a Winbond Tsop.  I bridged the three solder points, and loaded the evox app that I have used to flash many other TSOP's.  When I selected the bios to flash, it said Erasing, and just sat there for a while.  The progress meter never went up at all, so after like 5 minutes I just turned it off.  It never erased the original bios or anything.  I checked the solder points, and tried different bioses.  I've done about 20 tsop flashes on all different versions, and never had this problem.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks in advance.  <

Why would that help?  I've done 20 or so tsop flashes before using an evox based app that works just fine...  Have you had this problem before?  What does raincoat do differently that would fix it?  <

The difference between EVOX and Raincoat is that Evox will not flash winbound chips because it uses what is called bank erase where as raincoat is able to erase winbounds because it uses chip erase.  Evox locks up because it doesn't recognize how to flash a winbound chip.  For winbounds you should ALWAYS flash with raincoat.  I hope this helps.  <
