Very Strange Thing! Can't Flash Tsop
« on: April 05, 2004, 05:38:00 PM »

Ok!! Here I have an 1.4 or 1.5 xbox (focus chip)
My bridge are ok (tested whit multimetre)
I try to flash it whit auf/raincoat.7
I got an error :invalid manifacturer ID: 0X09.

The tsop is a ST.
then I tried whit 007_With_Evox_Installer when I hit the flash button in evox the detected tsop is a winbond. And evox hang when erasing. the xbox still working after a reboot.

I can't understand.
any idea???

Many thanks for the help!!!  <

I was helping someone online over the past few days to TSOP flash and they had the same problem.  They tried defogger paint on all 3 points first, then removed the paint from the top two and soldered.  Unfortunately they didn't have a multimeter to check the connections, but I'm fairly sure that it should have worked (usually conductive paint is pretty failsafe).

According to the Xbox's owner, the TSOP had this printed on it:

ST m29f002bt70n1
5bs10
0349

Does that match your unflashable TSOP?  We didn't try flashing with evox, but in raincoat 0.7 it always appeared as 0x09.  The manufacture date was 2003-05-31, and it had a Conexant video encoder.  <

But I really can't figure why evo detect a winbond chip.

most versions of evox.ini have the bogus flash parameters

QUOTE
Flash = 0x0900,"Winbond - W49F020T",0x40000

which is completely incorrect as 0x0900 means cant read/write  <

Maybe I'll should try to fix the evox.ini.

But I never work whit those parametres.

If anyone can give me to line for the ST m29f002bt70n1 that would be great!

Thanks!  <

AFAIK only Slayer's evox.ini has the bogus flash parameter.  If anyone else's installers have it, it's because they're all copying Slayer.  <

I'm having the same exact problem, but mine reads

ST M29F002BT70N1
5BS1L
0328

I've used the same flash line, but it keeps on saying flash not writeable... and I've soldered all three of the bridge points on the motherboard... Two on top, and one on the bottom, can anyone help...

The manufacture date is 2003-7-28  <

Forgot to address the situation a little more.. I have a X2.3b modchip which I'm using to boot into a evox cd with all the flash lines from raincoat 7. I have all three bridge points soldered. I try to flash by disconnecting my modchip, and then flashing, but won't work... can I not flash the TSOP once I boot up with the X2.3b mod?  Help please :(   <

Correct, once you boot from the LPC, the TSOP is disabled until the next boot.  <
