Help Flashing 1.0
« on: March 31, 2004, 07:32:00 PM »

hi i've never done a TSOP flash before, but i'm currently trying to do one with an X2.3 lite.

what i've done so far the results i've gotten:

1.) i was followign this guide:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=42522&st=0

i soldered the write lines, i soldered in the x2.3 lite chip.  the T1 wire was grounded.

then i flashed the x2.3 on another xbox with
EvoX_MatriX_TSOP_flash.bin  (256K)

didn't make it to 1meg.  have a feeling this might be my problem.

but anyways, i took the flashed modchip and put it into 1.0 mobo that i wanted to TSOP flash.  i turned xbox on with modchip on, flash protect off, and bank 1.  and then from my readings figured i had to turn the modchip switch off at a certain point after turning the xbox on.  (1/2 seconds?!)  so.... from reading, timing seemed important, i tried multiple times turnign xbox on, and turning chip off hoping to see evox on the screen.

all i kept on getting was the flashing red and green lights.     and nothing on the screen.  3X boot.

now i must inform you the fan is not plugged into the mobo, the controller ports aren't either  but i dont' think that should matter.  Also this mobo was bought serparately from the rest of the xbox.  Does it matter if someone tried to install a modchip on it before?

thnx,

Try following LordVader129's great tut

And xbox's do complain if things arn't plugged in.  I suppose this might apply to the version 1.0 controller card, which isn't in any other version.  <

Did you flash a 256k bios instead of a 1meg bios to the tsop, if this is the case you can easily fix it by soldering two wires. follow this tutorial http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/multibios-tsop.php you don't need a switch just solder points a18 and a19 to ground as in the picture and it should boot fine

do all the mobo screws  need to be screwed down?

cause booting without TSOP write lines, i only had one modchip screw in.

same for when i had the TSOP write lines in.

maybe the board needs to be grounded elswhere?
