I guess that only by using a HDTV AV cable you are able to choose the output?
mine's currently @ 480i. cant change.
btw, does the 720i mode also applies when using the normal yellow, red & white plugs?
I've nv seen a HDTV cable before. i belief it does provides other means like YCbCr etc..
does it runs on normal TV using the yellow, red, white plugs in 720i as well?

There is no 720i only 720p. And anything higher then 480i will require a component cable (HD Cable). The standard composite cable (yellow one) will only output 480i, S-video will also only output 480i. The red and white are only for audio not video.

Also you need an HDTV to run anything higher then 480p from any source including the xbox.

semi OT question: if i am developing a skin and i do not have access to a proper 16x9 display but still want/need to develop 16x9 support for it, is using the "Widescreen with bars" option within the MS Dash ok for this purpose? i would assume so but figured i'd ask here first...

720p 16:9, even though that's redundant (720p only comes in 16:9 ratio)

^^^ good ol s-video.  i remember those days  smile.gif

Right now it's on our 30" Sony CRT @ 1080i, but once I get my 1080p 37" LCD i'll have to decide between 1080i and 720p...(it'll probably end up 720p though, since i love progressive scan  cool.gif  )

Running XBMC on a allmost 20 year old Philips Blackline 4:3 TV. (in Europe, so PAL does it for me)
I haven't done anything with resolutions so I guess I'm running XBMC at 480i (the lowest?).

I don't think I can change anything with my very old TV? Do I?

720p on 100 inch widescreen high def projector........ tongue.gif

I was running mine on a HD projector as well and sold it and bought a 37" LCD television.  Projectors that big make the images look worse, and colour/contrast/brightness are never as good on a projector as they are on new HDTVs.
