hey guys, i am relatively new to XBMC and i was wondering how to change the fan speed. when i go to the menue to change it i can not acces it, it's darker and i can't even scroll onto the option. Is this because i am running XBMC as an app?

It has worked on every box I've tried it on.  Maybe your bios doesn't allow you to change this.  Weird.

Aside from the increased danger of cutting your finger off, I don't think so.

Eh, the only real danger it could be is the higher speeds you run it at constantly will casue it to die earlier, which in turn could cause your xbox to over heat, but I run mine at 30% from bios and at 35 in xbmc

A) the fan speed wont be selectble because auto temp is on and that means it will drop to 2 percent untill such time as CPU/GPU gets to that temp then it will speed up untill it cools down.

i think that you cant change the fan speed because the part above it isnt selected where it says modify fan speed or somethin along those lines. if the part that says 20% is greyed out then you have to go the option above it and press a and it should ungray the 20% so that you can change it

are you refering to x3 bios, as afaik i dont believe anyone is able to get reliable readings from a 1.6+ xbox

iirc its not a modchip/bios issue as the new 1.6 hardware screwed with the readings and/or memory locations.

Goto Settings, then System.

Make sure Auto Temperature Control is off, then you can enable Fan Speed Override, and change the speed below that.

On a side note, I thought that you couldn't get accurate temperature readings for any v1.6 or v1.6b xbox with any chip no matter what? I have a v1.6 and I can't get any accurate temp readings with any kind of chip/program. I've also tried but failed on a v1.6b.
