Help! I Soldered The Points For The Flash Tsop
« on: February 05, 2004, 01:29:00 PM »

Alright I just got done soldering the front and back of the xbox where the points go.  I start up the xbox it boots but only with a distorted image.  Did I solder it right?  I must've because the bios is flashing.  Someone please help me.  And do I have to solder a wire in?  It's a v1.0 xbox btw.

The video was distorted before I flashed my tsop with a 256kb bios.

Is this due to bad connections?  <

if it fragged before u even flashed your tsop means you have a sharp tsop and you should of read. sharp tsops cant boot with the top points soldered. You have to connect them when the xbox is on. And you said the 4981 bios i thought u already flashed. But you must remove the solder then boot xbox then connect the points    <

sharps dont appear on 1.0s, only 1.1, and he said it isnt fragging

how is the video "distorted" is possible the video region is wrong (PAL on NTSC tv or vice versa) that would cause a "scrolling" picture and possibly b+w (depends on your TV)

some TVs dont scroll, but the picture isnt lined up wiht the screen, the very bottom on of the screen is showing the top part of the picture  <

I figured out my problem.  I didn't need a sharp tsop flash.  I didn't apply enough solder for the bridging.  I fixed it by flashing back to the original bios and then adding a little bit of solder to the back points on the back of the motherboard, this eliminated the distorted screen.  I hope this is useful for anyone that has the same problem.  <
