I Suck - Radiostorm Help?
« on: April 04, 2004, 01:11:00 PM »

1st off,

Thanks once again Xbox scene! I can't beleive how much I've learned from this site in only 3 weeks. Keep up the good work!

Anyways - I've hit a snag with Shoutcast. I'm having some problems getting radiostorm (any genre) to work. I keep getting:

SR_ERROR_CANT_RESOLVE_HOSTNAME

everytime I try and tune in. I have a problem or two with some other stations as well, but I happen to really enjoy this one.....

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance - Scoob

Someone else just reported this.

Substitute using the IP address instead (in the .pls).

LOL,

I don't know how to say this without coming off a a total newbie, so I'll just say it.  :beer:
Anyone know where I can find the ip for Radiostorms diffent stations?

I've entered everything I can possibly think off in that pls file, an it's still giving me the same error. This is an unmodified file straight off the shoutcast hompage:
Radiostorm[Pop Top 40 Rock Urban]

[playlist]
numberofentries=3
File1=http://radiost.sc.llnwd.net:12500
Title1=(#1 - 278/983) Radiostorm.com: NOW! The Net's Hit Music Channel
Length1=-1
File2=http://radiost.sc.llnwd.net:12505
Title2=(#2 - 342/1032) Radiostorm.com: NOW! The Net's Hit Music Channel
Length2=-1
File3=http://radiost.sc.llnwd.net:12510
Title3=(#3 - 559/1032) Radiostorm.com: NOW! The Net's Hit Music Channel
Length3=-1
Version=2

I think if I see SR_ERROR_CANT_RESOLVE_HOSTNAME, I'm going to put my fist through the screen.  :angry: On a positive note - I've found a bunch of other stations that I really enjoy, while trying to get this one working, So it's not all bad I guess  ;)

No - but thanks!

I managed to get the clues I needed XBMC message board. I was unaware of any programs that could look up ip's based on domain names. (ip lookups)

For any other newbs like myself having the same problem, do a seach for "Ip lookup" on yahoo and you'll find a program that will help yet find the ip of any stations that have just the domain in the pls file. Once I did my search and replaced the domain - worked like a charm!

Many thanks to all who pointed me in the right direction!  :beer:  (I feel like quite the dumbass for not thinking to try seaching the xmbc board).

Next up - tv streams  :P  mwahahahaha

Thanks again! - Scoob  <

Umm..

Or in windows, open a cmd prompt (start->run->cmd), and then type in:

nslookup hostname.com

You'll get the IP.
