The samsung sdg-605 firmware ignores all region locks, all xbox dvd drives do, the lock comes from the software.

So when you say the DVD region is software controlled, do you mean the dashboard/files on HDD etc - I would have thought it more to do with the EEPROM settings?

Anyway, if the drive firmware is RPC1 I'll be fine - smartXX can carry on controlling DVD region as normal.
I'll get back to tweaking my philips pots to read +/-RW's instead of the CDR's I already tweaked it for

If i were to fit a 616 laser to a 605b would i need to mod it or is it plug and play

Ok well, i modded my 616F drive fine. Every little detail, i even serached the fourms, but no one has had the same problem as i have. ( i think it was a bad firmware, which ill will find another 605B and reflash) but the drive clamed to upgrade right. Windows read it as a 605B drive. So i shutdown, and reversed the motor. I dont need the eject button as i use my drives another way, and it makes a funny noise and wont read ANYTHING. so i put the 616F firmware back on, and it worked fine. When it was with 605 B it even almost killed a disk. Well i would like advise. Thanks guys. and i am downloading frimware from emule. Which i figure might be ok.

dont bump after only 30 mins

if you ddi some searching youd know error 08 is a hard drive error, not dvd

i knew that but the xbox old dvd drive did work but had a dirty disk problem on some games so i upgraded and only when i use the new dvd drive i get this problem i would just like to know why i cant find anything on it ps sorry about the bump i am a noob and the article by master tito said wait longer than 10 mins so what is an acceptable bump time?
