Used Highway Pack In My Winbond
« on: January 23, 2004, 01:19:00 AM »

My Xbox is a model with the Focus chip and W49F020T Bios
I used Highway 007mech Flash Pack v1.0 and put a 256Kb bios.bin in)
Everything went fine, here is the Raincoat log:

CODE

----------------------------------
DETECTED: Winbond W49F020 (256K)
Programming with bios.bin...Read 262144 bytes from file
Erasing...
Trying to erase whole chip

Since everything was OK, after flashing I turned Off my Xbox and On.

Now It tries to boot 3 times, then flash the front LED Green and RED.. and stay flashing forever...

Someone can help in point my errors in this process?
What can I do to fix that?   <

That's funny.  I just had that same problem.  Check this thread to see if it helps.

But is it possible to install an old 29wire modchip to bypass in a 1.5 model? Isnt a problem with the Focus chip? I only need a way to undo this bad  flash...any help?

ps. In the raincoat.cfg has only mention the W49F020 TSOP not the W49F020T inside the box...or are they the same?  <

  I `m not sure what bios I used, but I think its 4977 or 4979 bios, but if it was the bios is it normal the green-red flash effect? I thought it only gives a black screen with no flash(only green) if used the wrong bios in a Xbox with a Focus chip.

Anyway I really need help to fix it...I dont even know if the homebrew trick will work because this Focus thing...   <

Yeah, I mistakenly flashed a Winbond with 4977.  It FRAGS with no video.

Have to install a chip that is 1.5 compatible to get it to boot, and then reflash properly.  <

Can I use an old 29 wire modchip to reflash a 1.5 Xbox? I think I saw somewhere about a missing D0 point found in the newer versions of mobos...Or are there other kind of modchips which I can reflash?   <

Well, I Xecuter just came out with the 2.3b chip which is v1.5 compatible.  I don't know if the old 29 wire one is, but since it's 'old', I'd guess it's probably not.

There are other methods of flashing a chip without getting the xbox to boot first, but none of them really seem easy...  <
