ok, but being in the electronics industry, i certainly wouldnt be too happy selling devices with those kind of temps inside them, at room temperature.
just imagine a hot day, or if you decide to have the heating on a fair bit, an extra 20 degrees above ambient room temperature would start screwing up some of the less tolerant bits on the mobo, notably the hard drive for a start
40 degrees ambient, added to the heat generated by the hard drive itself makes for at least 80-90 degrees, that'll fry it sooner rather than later.
CPU temperatures of mis sixties is, admittidley little cause for concern, silicon juctions will start to fail at half that again, the CPU may last (say) 4 years instead of 10 due to accellerated deteoriation (electron migration / tunneling)
if everyone says its ok, then fine, its ok, thats what MS have allowed the xboxes to do,
anyone any returns stats on these things?, going by their records of software development I wouldnt be too surprised if this wasnt a partial oversight
