All of you having problem flashing these tsops, do you scrape the surface of the solder points with a SMALL flat screwdriver to get rid of the clear coating on the mobo?

Forgot to scrape one 2 days ago and i was 100% sure that the solderpoints where solid but still got the chip not writable bullshit.

Took me a good 45 minutes and 5 or 6 solder and desolderings befor i remebered that i hadn´t scraped the points.

After that it took the normal 5 minutes to flash, install and screw the box together.

I wouldn´t say that i am a expert solderer but rather experianced (do ps2´s without to much problem) but i still fucked up for the better part of an hour.

Just Flashed a v1.5 XBox TSOP (Winbond W49F020T-90B) with tweaked M7 BIOS.  Works perfectly using the method described above (using Raincoat 0.5+)!

I use the eurasia tsop kit

but I always use a fiberglass pen to ensure any solder points tsop or lpc or homebrew mod are nice n clean whilst the soldering iron is warming up

Resoldered those 2 points on the top about 3 times now and get the same, using the latest raincoat as well

is it definatly the 2 solder points causing this? because as far i can see there connected i also checked with a multimeter

You only need 2 for ALL xbox versions. You only increase your chances of screwing up by trying to mess with more bottom points.

Don't forget about the v1.1 box with a Sharp tsop which needs a wire bridge on the bottom. Search if you want some more info on the Sharp tsop  wink.gif

R7D2, man was that small... what happened was i let my mate do it as its his xbox and i thought he'd be fine with it so left him to it... looked at it and he covered R7D2 in solder biggrin.gif

hehe thought it was knackered but it still booted so thought i'd try and fix it, the resistor got suck on the soldering iron when i tried removing some of the solder but managed to find it again and stick it back in... could'nt belive it when i tried a multimeter on it, it still worked smile.gif

smallest thing i've had to solder, i had blobs of solder bigger than it

...Cool!!!!!

so now you probably have the feeling you can SOLDER ANYTHING!!!!!   wink.gif

i didn't have mine back to life,  did solder that GROUND and 3,3 volt....

but the Chameleon doesn't want to boot....   sad.gif

i think i will get everything disconnected AGAIN......and try it all over AGAIN....

....AFTER i have had another joint to get relaxed, from all the mini, macro, midget soldering skills and techniques.....

please keep us all posted about your progress, Bro!!!!

if we stick together, we can maybe find ALL the answers to get them ALL FIXXED!!!!

I got a 1.5 to flash, but something went wrong. when I rebooted, it does the on off thing three times then flashes red and green.
Any ideas?
Isn't that the bad bios error?
I used the same bios I have used on the last 5 boxes I moded. but this is the first 1.5 I have done.

What bios did you use? If you used anything other than X2 4979 or M7 or the newer x2 4980, that's why it's fragging.....The other bios's don't have focus encoder support.

Looks like it's a 29 wire mod for you!

I repair tsop's if you don't feel up to it  cool.gif
