One more thing, I loaded Evox with MechAssault (the first version) from my friend, but then I bought a MechaAssault, you know the ones that are platinum that cost $20, it's the same Mecha but, when I try to load the Evox saved game again with this new game it didnt work. I think they added and changed more stuff in the game.  So Evox dont work with that new version of Mecha. The kernel in my box is K:5530 and D: 5659, Anubody knows if I can downgrade this version of it? maybe to 4920!?  <

call me lazy, but i just hate having to reconfigure my router and pc just so i can telnet into the xbox using Raincoat to flash the chip. I like the 007 evox, but it wont work for the new Winbond tsops so i put the two together. on a standard xbox memory card this only leaves room for about 1 bios file, so i picked up one of those 35 dollar 128 meg usb flash stickes from wal-mart. Now when i load up the 007 evox i have the option in the menu of loading the raincoat flasher which now shows graphics on the screen letting me plug in my usb keyboard and type the flash commands directly into the xbox without using the pc at all. Now to try and write a tutorial on what i did.

I'm sure its been done already but here is how i did it. First get both the 007 evox and the 007 Raincoat. Now in the 007 raincoat package find the file default.xbe and rename it to Raincoat.xbe, then copy just that file along with the BOOT folder and Raincoat folder over to the folder in the 007 evox package that the exox.ini is in. Now you need to edit the evox.ini file and put the following line somewhere in the menu section.

QUOTE
Item "Raincoat Bios Flasher","e:\udata\41000d\0000000000\raincoat.xbe"

In doing it this way you can still follow the readme for both packages. Now when you load the 007 save evox will come up with an added option of launching Raincoat. So you can now go ahead and flash with evox or choose Raincoat from the menu, only now instead of a blank screan you will have graphics and the ability to plug in your usb keyboard with an adapter ofcourse and type in commands, or telnet in.

Eurasia's tsop flash kit does the same thing without need for typing if you set it up properly.....

As most Winbond's are found on atx mobo's then I just set it up to identify all 256kb tsop's and flash it with M7 - so it can be used on all atx mobo's inc 1.4's/5's
(now the save's bios.bin is updated to x2 4979.06)

with this save copied onto h/d and 007 up n running - less than 30 sec's later the xbox has flashed it's winbond - both types are recognised and has turned itself off

so far used 4 times on focus mobo's and twice on conexant mobo's

it's limit is that you can use the bios.bin but that is fine if ya using a bios ya happy with like x2 4979.06 etc......
(if ya wanna use a different bios then  flash with one working bios - then replace the bios.bin on the save location with a differnt one - again called bios.bin)

no pc needed and no keyboard either

mainly used for winbond's - for ST's I can boot up 007 evox and flash through that

It worked like a charm, now i got all three Flashers in one 007 package.

Evox boots up from 007 save with three options in the menu to flash the bios.

1) By using the flasher built into evox.

2) Raincoat using a usb keyboard or telneting in

3)Eurasia's raincoat flasher, which by the way doing eurasias this way now outputs progress to the screen smile.gif

The whole thing ended up being around 20 megs but i put alot of extra bios files that i probably wont need in there.

Thx again pizza for the tip on using eurasia's flash package!

Wow you have been busy

I just set up the config file with all the 256kb tsop's - mainly the sodding winbond ones but also the ST & lpc mods etc.....

like I say I threw on M7 so that it can do those poxy winbonds on ver 1.4's without telnet

done a 1mb ST ver 1.0 tsop today through the usual good old 007 evox
(my other mem card has this save with a 1mb & 256kb X2 4976.02 on it btw)

prefer to see what I am doing but it is good 25 seconds I reckon and all is done

real fanx goes to the raincoat & Eurasia peeps - clever mofo's

By the way. have you ever tried an edited m7 with lba 48 on a 1.4 or 1.5, I have read where a few people had problems doing that.

Ive been using m7eflba48 for a while now on a 1.0 with no problems, just wondering if its ok.

Rock on Bubbaal55!

Here is the topic where I started down this same path that led to the Flash Kit.

You could use xbedump to sign more programs to add to your package.

Robert at Eurasia.nu thinks that evox is doing some initialization that lets the graphics work.

Looking forward to trying this, will it be released or must I make my own?
