Are you using winxp sp2?

I'm having the exact same problems as you were!

Sorry BlueCell - I tried VBCR and could not get that to work either - it gives me the not responding error.

man, i got the same problem with the soundtrack editor.
but maybe it will work with Virtual Xbox CD Ripper. ill try it tonight
