Samsung Sdg-605 Firmware For Your Xbox

I have found that you can download the Samsung SDG-605 firmware (the software that xboxes came with that fortunately came with the samsung drive.) Does anyone know if this software can be installed on yur xbox if you dont have a samsung drive, and would it enable you to play cd-r's like the samsung drive? If so how would i go about installing the firmware?
