Linux Distro W/ Fatx Boot Disc For Pc?
« on: December 09, 2003, 11:23:00 PM »

Now, I know about TSOP'ing with the memory card or USB sticks.

BUT, what about a bootable linux distro on a CD. You just boot it up in your PC. Perform the hot swap technique to connect your XBOX HD to the PC and transfer over the files, then do the flash.

Why a boot disc?
1. so that you don't have to intall linux on your PC.
2. so that you don't need a memory card or usb stick or a modded xbox.

Now, Ed's Xbox Debia distro works on the Xbox, but can  I boot it up in my PC just for FATX support? That way, I don't have to do any freaking kernal patches, etc.

You could just download FatX and complie it on linux.. then u dont have to worry about.. that xlinux disk will give you problems if you have copied any media to the xbox... (thats the problem with the HDDdriver for windows... it trys to read the music directories and cant so it gives u an invalid file error)

I found if u just wipe that partition, and use one of these programs it works without any issues... (and its safer with the hot swap cuz u can let your computer boot completely to windows and u dont have to worry about timing...)
