Yo dudes  ...

To get it straight I am a experienced installer ... .
So here is my problem .

A friend of mine came today to mod his used xbox I guess it's 1.1 (even tough lpc point's were pre-soldered and no nvidia chip fan, manafacture date  was 2002 ... oke myabe it's a 1.0)

we went for the the tsop mod because of expenses he can't afford, so I soldered the first jumper on the up side of the board and 1 on the bottom side.

Threw in mechassault used the RUN LINUX save, it loaded up kewl and so I could ftp to the box to copy evoxdash.xbe, evox.ini, skin(folder), bios(folder),trainers(folder) and flashed the box with executer2 4977, the box shutted off  and loaded evox and everything seemed to be just fine.

checked that all apps at e:apps are working (xbmp, dvdx, bo, etc.) .... so I went straight to ftp some games to him like max payne2 and soul calibur2...

kewl I said to my self another nice mod in a couple of minutes and so I wished... First strange thing I encountered when I boot Sould Calibur2 it boot just fine, so I went ot max payne 2 and after a couple of second It just returned to the dash, in hope it might have been a new media check I  took halo DVDR Backup off my CD sleve and fired up in the dvd-rom same result, goes straight to EVOX, thought maybe somehting wrong in the evox.ini, copied a the non-modified offiacal evox.ini over ... result same problem all APPS working (including soul calibur2) but not halo or max payne 2 (nevthless if from DVDR or if is a copy on the HARD DRIVE)...

ok I know this sounds like a lame questions but really something funny is going on (at least for me coz I tsop'ed moded around 20 box'es already) , my xbox seems to be a 1.1 (lpc pads non-soldered) but neverless I am using the same dash ( evo.ini) same bios ( executer 2 4977) and those games neverthless if ran on DVDR or from hard drive after a succeful copy trough bo-explorer all three of them ran just fine .... both of them are ntsc machines...


ok here is the following what I already tried to troubleshoot my problem :

1. swapped my un-locked 120gb hard drive with the box I just moded = same results ... halo + max payne2 not working.

2.swapped  my 120gb un-locked xboxdrive with his orginal hard drive,= same problem exists, halo reboot after a couple of second's same with max payne2 ...  did this test to eleminate a hard drive problem.

3. flashed the evox d6+ejectfix to see if the problem might be bios related = exactly same issues remain... halo + max payne 2 reboot when loading ( straight at the beginning of a couple of seconds... )

4. tried to see if somethin is wrong with the hard drive, seem to be xbox live 1 installed and no prob running originals or copies on dvdr like pgr2, kotor and soulcalibur2 (thats the ones I tested) togh neverthless copied to HD or DVDR the same probs exists to boot halo or max payne2 ...

5. swapped my dvd drive ( samsung ) with his dvd (which is also a samsung) = same problem , actually elimantes a problem at the dvd drive
In anycase I have made lots of tsop flashed to previous boxes of friends and never encountered any problmes similiar of which I have now.

...

Things I can do before to further solve the problem...

1. connect a cheapmod ..
2. evox new hd install (reformat the parts and do everything from new.)

thing to remmber from the box I'am trying to solve the proble,m

1. I used the backup option before using EVOX to flash the bios.
2. swapped hard drives with a working box...
3. tripple / 10 times check the evox.ini ( tough I am usinfg the evo.ini orignal now.



Any real help would be really appriciated coz I am already frustrated what the problem might be ... !!!!

Perhaps you might need to run ADR patcher or something on those games or use a better bios, like evolution m7 or xecuter 4979.xx.

Seems like an isolated problem as well, you mention only Halo & Max Payne 2 as the titles that are causing problems.

I suggest you try to run different copies of the titles you mentioned. If the problem still exists you can always try to reflash the TSOP.

Well I mentioned only those 2 games you'r absolutly right , the problem is even tough u run them from the HD they r not working ..


Halo has always been the first game I popped to c that the xbox is just running fine after a modchip install, tough a decent copy from my PC ftp'ed to the offending xbox did not work .... So I used my DVDR copy to see if goes .. bam same thing ....

So only thats why I tried max payne 2 ... same shiat ... than only after that soul calibur2 which was the first game working... (so I knew something does work


Executer2 4977 bios is the same bios I'm flashing to every one (modchip or tsoped)... first xbox ever making me problems is the one I was talking about ....

update : ...


flashed back original bios on the tsop ... put a cheapmod with executer2 4977 ...

same problems no change

so removed the cheapmod and flashed back with executer 4979
Did more checkings on games and found a few other which do not work,

futurama
beach soccer
robocop
freaky flyers ...


in any case tried also to transfer to the HD ... same problem loads and returns to dash ...




DAMN ! This is the most strangest thing I ever seen happening of all boxes I moded ..

I had the same problem a while back using chips. The box was a version 1.0 I believe. I tried several different chips and bioses with no luck! Tried different HD's too. I thought about flashing but glad I didn't cause it would've been a waste of time cause it didn't fix yours. Some games would play and some wouldn't, but all Emu's worked.

I never found a fix so I sold it as a Emulation box for a low price. If you ever figure it out PM me cause that box kicked my ass.

Did also the following things : Swapped 110v psu with 220v psu...

Soldered executer lite 2.x chip  with 4977 bios on it.

ofcoz with no luck ...

most funny part of this is 50% of those games r working !


gesh I wish some one could put some logic into my problem !

I am not sure if this helps you and might not sound logical.

I had problems with my modchip some games would not load and go back to the evox screen. I tried patching and all sorts.

But I used this program to patch

ISOCraxtion-v31

and the games would work. I always will use this before considering if the modchip is faulty. I thought my modchip was old and had problems loading some games but this worked. I suggest you give this a try, maybe it could help.

That is if you havent tried it already.

P.S - I tried several other patchers, and they did not work.

hmm.... that sure is a strange problem.... I have a v1.0 xbox with the TSOP flashed(X2 4977) and all games work fine... I've never encountered a game that would bring me back to the daskboard. ^_^

But I'm willing to bet bucko hit this problem on the nail.... The IGR's....... @_@

Why is it that we always forget to think about the possibility that the IGR's are the culprit of all problems??

phee - TNX for ur help but as I mentioned before the bios is executer 4977 which dosent needs any media patching and eventually all other games r working on the same setup (which is my own box multi tsoped flashed though).

bucko - turned all off , eventually even removed evox and tried booting from msdash the dvdr's .. same thing ... !

xeriak - tell me about it got evox + 4977 on a identical machine ... same setup same everything .... ohh well guess thats a problem which never is gonna be solved it's sooo fucken mistyrious !

i have the same problem with some xbox, dont run fifa 2k4, i dont know why, i see they have in a common a st chip, and v1.1    with the winbond i dont have a problem, somebody came help please

I had problems with the following games on when I reflashed my cheapmod

Vice City (NTSC)
Fifa 2004 (PAL)
Max Payne 2 (PAL)
GTA 3 (NTSC)

I tried a these games and they worked fine

Soul Calibur 2 (NTSC)
XIII (PAL) (amazing game must own)
True Crime (PAL)
MOH: Rising Sun (PAL)
DOA 3 (PAL)
Project Gotham 2 (NTSC)
Halo (PAL)                         {
Brute Force (PAL)                These 3 are bundled games I got with a box I just bought
Midtown Madness 3 (PAL) }

I'd flashed my cheapmod with 4979, I found that vice city worked when using 4976.02 BFM using phoenix bios loader but not 4979 didn't check the others because I have a large f: which my 4976.02 didn't support so I had to put vice city on e:

I then redownloaded 4977 and loaded it into xbtool so I could add the large drive support and every game worked again. Other people have had no problems with this bios but I personally believe thy're might be issues with this bios and certain machines.

This doesn't help the original poster of course, I would suggest he tries the originals of the games that don't boot and see if that sorts the problem out. He can set evox up to autoadd the game in the dvd drive to the games menu (Just to make sure it will load from evox).

PS The xbox that had these problems was a 1.1 with a winbond and a sammy, upgraded unlocked hard disk.

Well I fixed my problem for sure pheew ... that was most stupiest thing I ever encountered also the solution was very idiotic ...

In any case I found the problem when running a original copy of rainbow six when the mod was on it simply returned to the dash ... well pushed the tsop switch to boot from original ... well poping rainbow  six  ... and what the fuck parental control dosen't allows playing of this game ....

phhhheewww called the guy asked him for the codes ... no way he did it he says (he bought the box used) ... so simply I copied over configmagic ... made a backup of the eprom and loaded it back to the box .. the settings reseted and everyting started to work ... and I banged my head with this sh*t ..... ohhh well

to Desert boy : ..

follow these simple rules

if u have a ntsc machine, switch it over to pal ... go the msdash enable pal 60

always check ur clock ...

the first one will make fifa2k4 play

the second .. well like most games have problems ... hope this helps ...

I've never flashed a TSOP in my whole entire life (I will after XmAss though), just I used phoenix bios loader to load my XDK, PBL only worked after turning IGR of. Duh.

Actually there is, I have 2 xbox's infront of me right now and I can tell you, the clock issue does sort out vice city but with 4977 on my 1.1 there is no issue with 4979 there is an issue. On xbox No. 2 one I bought about 6 hours ago a 1.3 (connexant but no voltage on the lframe point) it works fine with both bios's.

The same disc was used in both xbox's and both xbox's have samsung's in (Although this was an original so it shouldn't have made a difference.
There is something more to it.)

I can't check fifa 2004 because I returned it to the shop I bought it from.

I shall have to leave the new xbox unplugged overnight and check before work.

Those points you made are very good points but unfortunatly for me they were the first things I did before I looked to the forums for answers.

I even manually patched the media check bytes (Even though I know my bios shouldn't have any problems) but the original games exhibit the same problems as the backups.

I'm going to try every xbox that slips through my fingers which is quite a few to see if I can replicate the problem as without replication my problem is essentially worthless.

Maybe just my box is a bit screwed and I need to buy another one.
