V1.4 Tsop Flash Help Needed
« on: November 23, 2003, 12:40:00 PM »

OK.  Read thru nearly all tutorials available and finally built up the courage to go ahead with this flash.   I have  v1.4 XBOX with the Focus chip, 256KB winbond TSOP, no mem card or 007:AUF but want to flash the TSOP using the font exploit.  From what I have read, I think this can be done.  I just want a few things cleared up before my first attempt.

1.)  I can do this TSOP flash if I write enable the jumpers on top and bottom of the board.
2.)  I will have to HDD swap to get the font xploit files and the PBL1.3 onto the unmodded xbox HDD.
3.)  I can use the newest EVOX to flash the onboard TSOP with a 256KB BIOS file.

If I am missing out on some informtion please clarify this for me before I make an attempt at this flash procedure.

Thanks in advance!  :uhh:

This is good news then.  I will attempt to use the X24977 bios using the HDD swap method.  Thanks for your reply.

No no NO

Do NOT use 4977 unless you like doing repair jobs to reflash your TSOP.

The latest out there is 4979.  THAT one is the latest X2 that was being referred to and is the ONLY one that will work out of all the X2 bios's on a 1.4 or a 1.5.

Also, you only have to connect the two points on the top of a 1.4 board.  The bottom points are identical to a set of top points and are not needed.

phew, thanks for the save.  will attempt to use the X2.4979 bios on the tsop.  I have connected both points, but now I know.  The HDD swap will work though, but I think I am goin to have to edit the evox.ini to look for the winbond chip.

You can't flash a winbond chip with Evox, you have to use either Raincoat or the Eurasia flash tool.

you can get both from the "usual places"
