Mode Unknown Sharp Tsop Suspected 1.1
« on: November 18, 2003, 03:51:00 PM »

Ok, this Xbox was purchased as a spare. Recently i wanted to set something up in the bedroom just for multimedia stuff. I'm well aware of how to flash the tsop infact in fact i've done a few systems. However, when i got around to this one i'm quite baffled. I've done a Sharp tsop before but this one takes the cake. I tried applying all the methods and at one point the prompt in Evox allowed it to erase but it was just stuck. It leads me to believe that this may indeed be a modified 1.x with a Sharp TSOP now i have only done a single 1.4 but this one is just puzzling. I've added pics.

If it helps. This model was bundled with Mechassault and Splinter Cell. Which was onsale back in September of 2003 or so, below the sticker states December 2002. However i purhcased an Xbox back in August and it was a 1.3 without any games for $179.99.

Anyways here are the pics.

I should also mention that while applying this TSOP flash one trace lifted off on the back so i had to bridge it, perhaps this might be preventing me to flash correctly but i doubt it.

If it helps i can also provide pictures of the bottom. I do believe its a 1.0/1.1 however when i've worked on other systems the lpc holes were usually filled.

Perhaps this may be a 1.0/1.1 refurb. If i cant get it to flash i might just go ahead with a budget flashable modchip.

IF you have all the points connected properly and the extra wire needed for sharp tsops and evox isn't flashing,  Try raincoat.  Raincoat is a much more advanced flashing app, because thats all its designed to do, flash tsops.

Perhaps i will try this once i get around to connecting the tsop flashpoints again. For some reason when they are connected the raincoat works, which btw i've tried about a month ago i'll finally get this thing going if not, cheap modchip it is. Thanks for your input.

This is indeed the 1.1 just by comparison.

It has a conextant encoder yes.

The wire is applied around the back, perhaps this is another one of those that dont flash no matter what? :-)

Anyways i'll attempt to flash it this weekend, i'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the feedback.

Well i've re-added new traces using some nylar wire, it is indeed a god send. I guess i'll have to use the AUF hack to flash the TSOP. As you can see Evox is not so friendly. :)

None the less saved $20.

Well to make a long story short used 007 W/ Raincoat. Loaded up an up to date raincoat.conf.
Flashed correctly it seems however the console starts up and shuts itself down two times till it finally remains on and its christmas light action for a bit.
Dunno if it was a misflash but its not working so i'd have to say it is. Gotta love Sharp Tsops. :)

Nothing a homebrew or budget modchip cant fix.

I have had this problem also.. Flash the Sharp with a 512k Bios image with raincoat instead of a 256k and it will work fine..

Schulz, quick question if you can reply.

When flashing in Raincoat, i dunno if you noticed but there are 2 different Sharp Flashes at 0x89a6.

Sharp "Sharp LH28F*" and "Sharp LHC*".

Does the "Sharp LHC" value work for both sharp brand tsops?

Actually i haven't noticed or paid that much attention.. all i know is i use the latest raincoat 0.5+ and haven't had a problem with any of the sharps i have done.. Only been 3 of them so far. that is when i use the 512k bin file.

Also i forgot to mention i am using the Method to split the 1meg bios into two 512k banks.. with applying gnd to A19 or VCC to A19 so each time i flashed it bad i still had the good other bank to boot from..

They'll be the same.

Right, perhaps my wording was not applied correctly, i meant the size, not description. They both seem to have different values.
