32-pin Chip
« on: November 18, 2003, 02:40:00 PM »

I have a 32-pin chip that is supposed to do something for the Xbox.  The number on the chip is M27C4001-12F1.  Can you please help me identify what this is and how I can use it?

Sounds like an ST chip that has been flashed (LPC mod chip)

you need to be looking in the mod chip section for installation of mod chips

also www.google.com is your friend

Thanks

You may want to check www.xbox-scene.com/tutorials.php you should find a chart listing modchip types & generations. This way you can mod your box properly. Cheers.

Here's what it is...
http://www.inmos.co.uk/stonline/books/pdf/...f/docs/2385.pdf

(it's a 4 megabit EPROM, 120nS access time)

Raincoat/EvoX flash line (although no guarantee it'll know how to handle it):-
Flash = 0x2041,"ST - M27C4001",0x80000

eproms can't be flashed at all. they need to be erased with special UV light and programmed with an eprom programmer.
you can however replace it with a flashrom and rewire it to be flashable in evox.
