The Eurasia flashing tool also works with the Winbond chip. It's easy to use, but works blind (meaning you use the LED indicator to know how the progress is going).

And I don't know if that foil and tape method is even remotely close to good enough.

Ok I have a v1.4 or v1.5, every time I try to run AUF007 raincoat hack from load mission within the game. It goes immediately ERROR 21 screen. I update Dashboard to 5659.

Tried agian. Still Same thing happens.

Hi all,

Sorry but I did not really understand the update thing with raincoat 0.501 ?

Can't I just update a v1.5 X-box with the original 007savewithraincoat + x2 4979.06 via telnet ?

Thx

No.
The original 007savewithraincoat contains raincoat 0.3.  You need to replace the raincoat and raincoat.conf files with the 0.501 versions.

Nope, apart from my having to adjust the Philips drive to read DVD-R's  grr.gif .  The reflash went fine.

Make sure you're not using any stupid lines in your raincoat.conf file.

flash=0x0900,"Winbond W49F020",40000 is an example of a stupid line, because 0x0900 is not, and never ever has been, a Winbond chip.  With this line you're asking for trouble.

Ok thanks for your reply Exobex.

I just have one more question...can I use the 007raincoat on any Xbox v1.5 or is it better to use the 007withEvox if I don't have a Winbond chip ??

Thx

I don't trust EvolutionX to flash the TSOP, as I've had it freeze a few times before when flashing LPCmods.

I always use 007savewithraincoat, upgraded with raincoat 0.501 (and the corresponding .conf file).  No problems yet, on any Xbox, even those new ones with the 5530 kernel!

Desolder the one beneath, then test across it using a multimeter.  If you get a short between the two jumper points it means that your top jumper (nearest the TSOP) is correctly soldered.  Check the other one VERY carefully, this is the one that determines whether you get the 0x09, 0x00 or the proper device ID. If necessary solder a strand of wire across it, that helps if the solder refuses to bridge the gap.
